🌿 When the Light Finds You

Posted on Memorial Day Weekend 2025

There are moments on this path—this wild, soul-spilling, truth-telling path—when the light finds you in ways you didn’t expect. Maybe it’s a stranger who sees your heart. Maybe it’s an old story being rewritten. Maybe it’s a memory that tugs at your chest, reminding you how far you’ve come and how sacred this all is. Maybe you feel seen in a room full of strangers.Maybe your nervous system gets flooded by old triggers that remind you just how tender this life still is.

This weekend held all of that for me.

There was joy. Laughter. The kind of delight that comes when you realize people are listening—really listening—to what you’re creating. When people start telling you your words matter. That your voice helped them breathe deeper. That your story is opening something in them. It felt like being held in sacred visibility.

While the world remembered fallen soldiers, I found myself in a quieter kind of memorial—one that lives in the marrow of my soul. A memorial to my son. To Cole. To the life he lived, the questions he asked, and the unbearable pain he carried.

But also… a memorial to us.To the family we were.To the selves we had to shed.To the ones who dared to start over.

And in the midst of all that remembering—there was so much living. Joy. Laughter. Nudity under the sun (yep, literal naked freedom). 😄🌞 Feeling like we were being seen for who we are now—without hiding, without shame. The recognition from others felt like an embrace: “We see you. Your story matters. Thank you.”

✨ But here’s what I’ve learned:When you begin to shine, your shadows often show up too.

This weekend I also felt that old shame bubble to the surface. I watched fear creep in when someone from my past crossed a line I didn’t expect. I had to breathe through the part of me that still flinches when I feel exposed. And just as I was beginning to question everything again (as I sometimes do)...Something holy and unexpected happened.

A message came. From someone who had once played a role in my deepest pain.

Not a defense. Not an explanation. But a heartfelt apology.A recognition.A surrender.

A mirror.

And I wept. Not because it erased the past…But because it proved that hearts can change. That people can wake up. That healing does ripple outward in ways we may never see coming. That this work is necessary.

🙏 This is why I keep telling the truth. This is why I write. This is why I speak boldly, even when it scares me.

Because setting people free is Cole’s legacy. And I will keep walking this path—for him, for us, for every person who is ready to remember who they are beneath the rules, the shame, the silence.

💗 If you’re walking through your own unraveling, remember:

  • You’re not broken. You’re becoming.

  • Your tenderness is not a liability—it’s a doorway.

  • Feeling too much just means you’re alive.

  • You don’t owe anyone your silence.

  • Your healing is a memorial to your resilience.

Keep going.Keep glowing.Keep showing up.

Because when you do… you give the rest of us permission to do the same.

With wild grace and sacred rebellion,

✨ Kami
